'the demise of glasnost and perestroika' - this is a bit of a double edged sword in what it speaks about. in many ways this is about current events in russia, how their steady push into democracy, once the birthchild of the movement that was glasnost and perestroika, has in ways turned into something that does not resemble those words, paticularly when it comes to chechnya and 'the spread of wealth'....
it also speaks, more directly, to current events in their presented form, the text that can't be read behind her is the final results of a quirky and bold study that was done on the US Media, questions were sent to various Television, Print, Radio and Internet News companies, such as Fox News, CNN, down to the more niche and municipal news agencies, like Wired, or your town's paper... the results were disturbing; 80% of responding agencies ( most using the right to respond anonymously ) confirmed that any or all of the following occured frequently: "the united states government, state governments, county and city governments, or arms there-of, have influenced us to create, edit, or supress stories" and "our advertisers and other sponsers have influenced and forced us to create, edit, or supress stories" so, where is the truth? in your bottle of pepsi? The artwork itself if stunning. The hair alone is amazing.
I'm very interested in the message behind it as well. I was wondering, if you have the time and if you feel like it, could you elaborate more on what you see in the Russian situation? I was a Russian studies major in my first years of University and have been there a number of times, but not for several years. I think what you're saying here is very true and I'd love to hear more of your thoughts. But only if you have time! Beautifully done. The details and colors are gorgeous. Excellent design and concept.
-- "A paranoid is someone who knows a little of what's going on"- William S. Burroughs *TheExquisiteCorpse The description is very interesting. Sad, but true. But didnt we all actually know this? Probably one of the things that people know, but dont talk about publicly.
That is some brilliant work right there. I love the colours and the typography. Who's the reference? Uncannily she reminds me of Laetitia Casta. Maybe its just me. -- Indians | Mumbai |
